How to pick the best Network Marketing Company for you

There are thousands of network marketing business opportunities to choose from. They all claim to be “the best”, have the best product or service, the most amazing compensation plan, support and training on and on and on! For some companies these statements are true, but for some, they are not. The question is, how do you cut through all the hype and get to the truth?
Over the last several years I’ve become savvy in the area of resources and things that are important for you to consider and evaluate in your search for the best business for you. In this article, I will share some of my insights to allow you to find the real deal.
I personally look at five areas, and if any of them don’t meet my criteria, I note it on my scorecard.
Here are the five areas:
1. Management Team – With a strong Management Team and a below average product, you can still WIN!
However, with a bad Management Team and an amazing product, you’re headed for a company to get driven into the ground. Here are some quick clues for a network marketing management team:
- Experience as successful network marketing distributors (you want them to think like you do)
- Experience building multi-million or billion dollar businesses
- The President/CEO should be a charismatic visionary leader who naturally attracts followers
- The CFO should be someone with extensive experience handling money decisions for large companies
- The marketing team should have extensive experience marketing in network marketing
- Finally, it’s great if the team includes someone who has experience in international expansion
2. Market Trends – Simple, is the company sitting in front of at least one powerful marketing trend? A solid network marketing company that is going to be around for years to come, has a solid and ethical business approach. You want the company to fit into the Entrepreneurial Boom we’re having! With corporate America restructures/layoffs and the overall economy, more people have become interested in home based businesses. Quick example: A wellness product is sitting in front of the powerful Wellness Boom, which is approaching a trillion dollar industry with 76 million baby boomers (in the U.S. alone) who are all interested in wellness. That’s a powerful market trend! Look around the market to see if it is flooded with similar products/services or if it’s a unique powerful market trend that will drive the company through massive growth for years to come.
3. Product – When you look at the product, you will find just about everything sold in network marketing. However, not every product is suited to network marketing. If you look historically at the industry, you will find that some of the top product categories are health products, skin care, and household products. The reason these are the top product categories is that they are all consumable. When products are highly consumable (re-ordered regularly) there is a bigger chance you’ll set yourself up for a strong residual income if you build your organization right. In addition to highly consumable products, look for them to be unique in some way – look for patents and things that make them like nothing else anywhere. This way, you aren’t playing the game of “my product is better than yours.” If the product fills a common need and it creates an emotional response (it impacts a person’s life), you’ve got a very big winner.
4. Compensation – Look at the plan, is it a fair and lucrative compensation plan? What does that mean? Well, it’s important to get a feel for the history of the average numbers of people current distributors sponsor for part-time and full-time incomes. Also, the plan should have the ability to create high six and seven figure incomes to attract the heavy hitters into your organization. You want a balanced compensation plan to meet the needs of part-time networkers as well as the full-time veterans.
5. Training and Support – The biggest reason people fail in network marketing is that they don’t do the work necessary to build their business. With that being said, it’s really all about YOU to make it happen! However, there is a second reason, and that would be a lack of proper tools and support to allow associates to grow themselves and their results. In a good network marketing company, you will find a mix of company training, quality tools, national conventions, regional events, and leaders who provide local meetings, teleconferences, and their own webinars.
There you go…now you have five areas to review in a company to find one that is solid and meets your needs.

What did Jeffery Combs do?

turned the heartbeat of my Network Marketing Career on!
I had the honor of meeting Jeffery Combs in the summer of 2007. When he took the stage my professional network marketing career was changed forever. At the time of the event I was still pretty new in the network marketing industry and my mindset then was still locked on to my Corporate Identity. All of that changed after meeting Jeffery Combs that day in Las Vegas, NV. Now don’t get me wrong, my Corporate Identity was a positive one…However, it was not bringing me the total fulfillment I was seeking in my life. My husband and I had just started our family and our daughter was born with a significant heart condition which took me out of the Corporate Life for just long enough to figure out I was not on the right path long term. My biggest fear was how to replace my then six figure income that I’d spent over a decade building. I then stepped outside my comfort zone and began to build my first Network Marketing Team. Still so new and being someone who liked to do it all on my own without any help, I had many doubts in the process.
One day I got a call from a friend saying “Hey XYZ Company is recruiting sales professionals and I know you’ve always wanted to work here.” This company was a BIG one in Sacramento, CA and people would kill to work for them. Twelve years earlier in my corporate direct sales days I had this company on my hot list. Now, I had the chance to win a spot in this company…I talked myself into the idea that I’d win the job and still run my network marketing business at night, so I went to the interview. Long story short, I landed the dream job and continued to work my business at night after getting home. One day I came home to find several new inquires on my business, and that night I brought in several new teammates. Within a 24 hour period, my business part-time had made me over half of my monthly income working a full 30 days on the job. WOW! It was then that I started to have more confidence in my abilities to build a strong network marketing team and business.
Boom here I was roughly 90 days into my new job, and I meet Jeffery in Las Vegas. That was it…immediately after listening to his wisdom I jumped right on the next plane home, wrote my resignation letter, and indicated that my heart belonged in my business, not a 9-5 job. This was the best decision I ever made. At that same time I decided that I would become a student of Jeffery Combs. I began to attend every one of his Tuesday Night calls, I purchased his CD sets and listened to them over and over and still do today. Eventually, I set my ego aside and attended all of his Breakthroughs to Success Events – AMAZING transformation for me to say the least. Fast approaching my 4th decade of this wonderful journey of my life, I really thought I had ME all figured out…well there was so much more and that is exactly what having “More Heart than Talent” is all about. The slogan of Jeffery’s book “More Heart Than Talent” says it all. I began to learn how to plug into my heart more and leave my head.

Think back to when you first started in network marketing or look at the last person that you brought on to your team…did they come in with desperation mixed with excitement and hope?
The decision to get started was an emotional one!
The unfortunate fact is that the industry is filled with new excited and hopeful business owners who have never had experience as an entrepreneur.
For the most part you will have others joining you that have yet to gain the disciplines and skills required for success in network marketing.
So here they go…or here you go if you’re fairly new…
Spending money, time and pushing outside of the normal comfort zones for the very first time out of a very strong and emotional desire to succeed and this is married to an equally strong fear of failure!
You may feel that you’ve been dropped into the wide open ocean and it’s time to sink or swim. Each lead that you call is the call of your lifetime. Each warm market prospect holds the key to your future. Each meeting you attend contains the secrets to your success. Each follow-up appointment call made that goes to voice mail is a blow to your gut. Every dollar you spend for leads is like a gamble. Each call you make to a leader for help that doesn’t get a return call is taken personally. Your world starts to crumble as you hit yet another ‘no’. Every time you have a new sign up you go out and celebrate!
You are on the roller coaster of emotion, and abundance in your world is not present yet!
When you are on the journey to becoming a professional in the network marketing industry this is a very common roller coaster ride and some get so sick to their stomachs they don’t get back in line to ride the roller coaster they quit. There is a way to ride everyday and never have any feelings in your gut that make you want to quit. Take a look now at the flip side…
Flip over the coin and look at the side you will arrive at which is becoming a professional that doesn’t have the highs and lows emotionally. What will your world look like at this point?
Imagine, losing your number 1 producer a person that brought in over half of your team . If this happens to you when you’re on the emotional roller coaster it is hard to recover from. Once you’re a professional in the industry you don’t lose a wink of sleep over it it’s just another day at the office.
You know where you are going and nothing will stop you no matter who comes and goes from your team!
When you become a true professional in this industry you feel no different about success and failure. Each are a part of everyday business and the mind-set of abundance remains unshakeable once you are a true professional.
Starting living in a state of emotional peace where your lows and highs are one in the same no peaks and no valleys. You get an irate call from a customer who forgot to change their auto ship just a day in the office no biggie. You get a new guy or gal who talks big and doesn’t walk their talk…just another day in the office no biggie. The no shows no biggie just another day at the office. The new gal that brings 100 team mates over from her old company…just another day at the office.
Once you allow your emotional state to become steady and get off the roller coaster that can happen in the beginning and that’ll you’ll see in others when they are new. You’ve won the biggest prize in the game of free enterprise. You’re emotionally balanced and no matter what comes your way in a day…no biggie…just another day in paradise!

Master Askers Get What They Seek

Are you operating at least 80% of the time in a state of relaxed intensity? What does this look like? First, let’s cover what it doesn’t look like. If you’re planning your every move in advance and you’re in your head processing most of the time and not getting to your goals, then you’re still on the journey – keep learning, applying, and growing! Don’t quit! It takes time to build new habits that are healthy for your business.
When you are operating with relaxed intensity, you will know since your energy will last and you don’t get bothered by the people you meet who pass on your opportunity or don’t see it as something they want to do. You get good at staying on point by asking great questions. You will spot opportunities and you’re on them naturally without thinking about it. It is an automatic to you when you see a person you should connect with right now in the moment. You’re in creation mode scouting for the talent that is required for your enterprise to remain active and healthy over the long haul. If you’re not there yet, it’s a process. Don’t judge yourself or compare yourself to others – just become aware of your surroundings at all times and be ready.
Also, be sure to surround yourself with mentors who have been there and done it in your industry. Make sure they have walked the talk. Most important, as you learn and apply, be sure to teach others how to do it. Let’s start small by keeping things simple.
We’ve all heard the phrase “Small Talk”, so let’s get it going. Focus on using great questions, listening, asking more questions if appropriate, and doing a whole lot less talking. The best way to open conversations in restaurants, airports, standing in line etc. is to ask a great question to test and see if the person is open. Sometimes people will not be open and you’ll be able to tell immediately. Don’t sweat it – just know it has zero to do with you and move on.
Go ahead, I challenge you to try this list of simple questions as openers and watch what begins to happen to your natural state of energy and those you’re interacting with. Below is a quick list of questions to start with. Add your own as you get the hang of it.
1- How do you enjoy spending your free time?
2- How are you today?
3- How’s your day going?
4- What was the last book you read?
5- I see that you live in (xyz) area code, where am I calling?
6- What has you in a position that you’re seeking a way to earn additional income?
7- Have you lived there your entire life?
8- Are you married to your work or do you keep your options open?
9- Where are you traveling to?
10- Are you here on business or for fun?
11- Could you recommend a great restaurant for me?
12- What are your hobbies?
13- Who is your favorite music group?
When you can become a master at asking simple free flowing questions and openers with small talk, you’ll begin to learn how to become a master attractor. So the next thing that most people ask after the opening question is “Where do I go from there?” Really simple, listen to their answer and come out with the next logical question to stay in the conversation.
To get to the point once you have the small talk rolling, you can say something like “John, you seem like the kind of person who keeps his options open in terms of creating additional streams of income…would I be correct in saying that?” Once they agree with a “YES”, then get their information and let them know you’ll follow up. Better yet, if you have info handy in the format of a CD/DVD, provide it and ask them to watch it and call you back. Look for other ways to open conversations by paying attention to the little clues – look at what they’re wearing, a book they have, if they look athletic, etc. and tie your questions into things where you know they will be excited to share more with you. It’s a fact, people love to share things about themselves with others.
When you begin to come from a place of relaxed intensity, others will feel your energy and you have a larger attraction factor. This is when someone says that you remind them of someone or it seems like they’ve known you for a long time, etc. It’s also when people will call you and your phone is ringing non-stop with quality people versus you calling out hoping for that return call.
Decide now that you will become a master asker and you’ll be a master goal getter. Great questions are good in business and personal situations. If you’re not asking bigger questions, you’re missing the opportunity to live a life of total abundance.

Anchor Your Why
Posted by: | CommentsHow to anchor your WHY’s into the bedrock of your heart to ensure a life of total fulfillment!
If you’re like me, you’ve set intentions and goals and have pursued missions in your life with passion. Most of you have more than likely reached many of your dreams and goals and then set out to achieve more. Perhaps you have had goals in the past and when you’ve reached them you said to yourself…”WOW is this all there is?” Or, “this doesn’t feel like I thought it would” etc… Most likely the meaning behind your feelings is that your initial list of WHYS for setting the goals were not anchored deep within your heart. Therefore, when you reached the goal and set out for the next goal or milestone in your business or life, you felt a sense that something was missing. Let’s take a closer look at the different levels of WHYS in order for you to grasp just how profound each level can be to your overall fulfillment!
There is personal gratification – this is simply our desire to fulfill our feelings. It can be romantic all the way to how we feel when we’re engaged in a favorite hobby. This will be the most common WHY in your personal and work life, yet it is the least stable. There is very little staying power in this space…even the slightest bit of adversity can zap this WHY.
The next level up would be money and material possessions. It does produce more of a drive and can turn the heat up quite a bit over just personal gratification alone. Therefore, you will see this is another very common WHY for many. It drives us in our careers and can influence our decisions and priorities in our personal world as well. However, there is still little staying power here when adversity calls.
Moving into the next level – this is where the craving of the approval of others sneaks on in. Looking for that “pat on the back” or recognition can be very motivational. Most children have this as their biggest WHY, and adults can have it sometimes for life. Therefore, many very successful people in life are hungry for this approval – so hungry it leaves them feeling insecure about themselves. Go ahead and think of just one great athlete or movie star/entertainer of your time where this addiction wiped them out vs. took them to higher levels of fulfillment. Who was it?
The fear factor is up next…the fear of failure, criticism, loss, and consequences are all BIG if you let them in. Fear can be one of the largest motivators of men and women – it is by far the most powerful on this list thus far. Even though fear has the power to create tremendous short term change and results, it can create some nasty long-term consequences. The stress created by fear undermines all that is positive and will eat away at your long term effectiveness.
Next stop is our survival instinct. When you’re driven by a “What Ever it Takes” attitude, you will succeed, however, the results will not be exceptional. Attempting to create patterns you can use long-term for excellence in life will not be possible with the survival mode pattern. It will take a higher level, so let’s look to the next level.
Moving into our personal achievement – this is one of the first levels of tapping into our true inner being. This WHY is so much different than that of our self-gratification WHY. Simply put, when the desire to do well in life or in your career is built into your inner core of who you are, it can drive a lifetime of incredible achievements.
Here is a huge WHY for me – my Family! There are many types of family relationships out in the world today from the loving and devoted to the dysfunctional and destructive. When you truly commit to loving your family, it can become one of the most powerful driving WHYS for long lasting achievements in the best way.
Now whether you believe in God or not is not really the issue on the next one – you can believe in any way you wish. It is proven however, that those who are truly connected to their sources, be it God or other beliefs, have the most loving and devoted hearts of all. This way of being leads to the strongest anchored WHYS that I’m aware of. There are many religious people in the world, but those who can act on their faith and a sense of purpose are rare indeed. This is a space that is not a feeling, but rather a choice to commit and live each and every day with your faith.
Now that you have a list of the most common WHYS…I challenge you to do some self discovery and ask yourself “What are the WHYS that are driving my career and my personal life? How do they tie to my job, marriage, family, children, and overall relationships in the world?” Are you getting closer to where you want to be by being the way you are now, or are there areas you can begin to transform and take action in to have a deeper level of commitment and achievement?

Deliver Value Post

The more valuable you become to others, the larger leader you will be. That’s the real secret in attraction marketing!
I love the saying that learners are earners and leaders are readers. You must become a student and decide to be a lifelong student in order to deliver value and teach skills to others.
If you’re not willing to be in the cycle or student, practitioner and mentor all the time you will not remain in a leadership position. People will be attracted to you because of the education and experience you can deliver to them. Simply ask yourself one question…How do you deliver value to the market today in the eyes of your leads? Remember, your company doesn’t matter! How do you personally bring value to the table? What is it that you can teach others that will bring them along faster on the learning curve.
Can you teach others how to advertise and generate leads? Are you a superstar on the phone? Can you host awesome meetings via teleconference or webcast?
Know that all the answers you are seeking to meet challenges are out here waiting for you if you’re smart enough to contine investing in YOU! It is by investing in YOU that you will increase your value to the world and the more valuable you become to others the more you will be pursued.
Every successful entrepreneur I have mentored with and studied on my journey have studied and accumulated information on their industry that is the equivalent of a masters or PhD. The good news is that by starting on your personal education and investing in YOU daily/weekly you will be ahead of the pack and the thousands of new business owners born each day that are seeking solid leadership.
Imagine it as a big puzzle where every new resource you open up to will add a few more pieces. Buy every single book you can get your hands on.
Success in the industry of Internet, Attraction, Network Marketing comes down to two simple things…
1- By becoming the leader others seek by increasing your value
2- The ability to express your personal value to others through effective marketing strategies
There are no magic bullets or short cuts. Magic websites and lead source do not exist so don’t get sold on any of that pixie dust!
I can hand over free leads to you all day long…but if you don’t see yourself as a leader a person of vaule and express yourself in that light you’ll never bring a single person on board with you.
Remember, all that you require to win is right inside of you! You can do it! I believe in you go out and build your knowledge as a student, apply the things you learn, teach others which is your value and repeat this cycle over and over as you evolve on your journey!
