Evanescence & Self Empowerment
Posted by: | CommentsI loved this song by Evanescence the very first time I heard it’s a great way to get in the mood for self empowerment. A good friend and mentor of mine Michael Bernoff turned me on to it at my first Core Strength Expereince Event. It was a time in my life where I was ready to ask myself some tough questions about the path I was taking. Long story short I faced the truth even though it hurt to see that I had turned off pieces of me and they were in a deep slumber. Basically I was comfortable just going through the motions in key areas of my life. I was using a tramatic event (along with a list of other items) in my life playing it over and over in my mind as my excuse for playing small vs. living my life wide open. I realized at a deeper level that I wasn’t in alignment with what I really wanted in life. I had to let go and start to re-writing the life I wanted vs. living a life of being on auto-pilot. Or as the song says "Living a Lie". You could say I was so used to being nice and fitting in that I had left the most important pieces of me on the back burner.
Enjoy the song Bring me to Life by Evanescence and if you’d like to start asking yourself bigger questions to start living more authentically with self empowerment as you guide…I have listed some actions and questions below for you to grab on to. Leave me a comment I’d love to hear from you about your journey
Questions & Action Steps For Self Empowerment-
Take notice of when you’re being nice vs. real…In situations where you were nice "not real" what did this experience invoke in you? What were the results? Notice where you were real…and ask the same questions. From whom or what do you seek approval? Does this effect whether you act from your "niceness" or "realness"?
Spend an entire week in self-expression. Make strides towards the external world with your deepest hopes and dreams. Observe what happens in you…how others react and if you find yourself in self-indulgence ask yourself what you’re not expressing?
Look at the ideas and beliefs that once served you and now are outdated. You may be holding on to things that you no longer need. Honor your beliefs since they are what bought you to where you currently are in your journey. As you start to let go of what no longer serves you, pay attention to where denial shows up and celebrate each decision and moment you move towards a more clear and authentic you!
For the next 30 days ponder the words of Mahatma Gandhi and the risks he was willing to take in his experiments with truth. How much are you willing to risk for the victories of truth?
