How To Market A Blog 10-Step Formula
Posted by: | CommentsHow To Market a Blog 10-Step Formula
You’ve probably heard of creating an Elevator Pitch before in business. One that you use when you first meet someone new at a networking event or one for career reasons etc.. When it comes to marketing your blog having a receipe such as this 10-step formula for how to market your blog can only help you to expand your ideas and success. So let’s take a peek at what goes into this step by step togehter today. Plus as a little bonus stick with me to the end of the post and you’ll see how I used the fomula in the picture above for a product I’m passionate about. I love to see real examples so I wanted to share one today in an effort to help you move ahead quickly.
Step 1 How To Market A Blog- Solve a problem or need. When you create your blog from a space of fulfilling the needs of others by solving their unique challenges you’ll gain success nataurally.
Step 2 How To Market A Blog- Define who your blog is for…Who are you attempting to attract? If your blog targets a certain demographic or type of person be sure to mention them in your pitch. If your blog is for retirees you’ll want to develop the above pitch with them specifically addressed. Target the exact readers you want and don’t shy away from being narrowly focused. There are many micro niche bloggers who are highly successful with specific targeting which at first may seem too small to you but it’s not. Think of all the little spaces online today where there is no one paying attention to specific markets you can come along and feed a hungry audience who is being underserved.
Step 3 How to Market A Blog- Be clear with your message. Don’t leave people struggling to determine what it is you do to help them out. Stay away from jargon that fits in your insider circles and use easy to understand language that gets directly to the point.
Step 4 How To Market A Blog- Keep it short and sweet which ties into what is said in step 3. We are in the age of limited attention spans so be quick clear and make it punchy.
Step 5- How to Market A Blog- Stand out by using humor, video and imagery to quickly grab attention with your elevator pitch.
Step 6- How to Market A Blog- Be memorable chances are your elevator pitch will not convert people to blog readers…however, when you entice them to learn more by writing something that sticks in the brains of those who hear it you will capture more readers.
Step 7 How To Market a Blog - Come across with energy not hype. Provide something more than just dry information when sharing your blog, take time to describe what you feel about it. Pack it with passion so that people can see that you love what you do and you sincerely care about your topic. Your authentic passion can be felt by others and it is contaigious as long as it is not crossing over into hype land.
Step 8 How To Market a Blog- Consider using questions. People are naturally wired to answer and engage when asked a question.
Step 9- How To Market a Blog- Be ready to expand on your elevator pitch. Imagine someone telling you about their blog using an elevator pitch and you get so excited about it you ask them to tell you more…Don’t be caught in this situation with little else to offer other than your 30 second pitch. The pitch is a door opener to warmly invite those that want more into your home "blog". The idea is to have your pitch down so well that it automatically invites others to ask you more so be ready.
Step 10- How To Market a Blog- Give yourself time each day to consume other blogs in your niche so that you’re always fresh with new content ideas and opportunities to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs while blogging.
Most important is to have fun and love what you do it will show in your blogging efforts and people will automatically be attracted to the fun energy. These are some thoughts of my own that I’ve had as I continue to evolve in the blog marketing space online. I’d love to hear more about you and your elevator pitch so be sure to share in the comments what you’re up to in this area.
