Better Communication in 90 Seconds
Posted by: | Comments
Today I’m going to break it down simply and share with you how you can begin to transform your commication skills naturally and easily. It’s all about being aware of how our brains picks up on words. Let me explain how better communication feels.
You’ve just boarded a plan to New York City and the pilot comes on the air and says “It’s good to have you on board. Now that we are on our way, I thought I’d take a few moments to let you know we don’t anticipate any bad weather, so we shouldn’t encounter any bumps, and if everything goes according to plan, there shouldn’t be any problem getting you to NYC on time.”
All of the sudden every bit of anxiety for the flight to NYC has been activated. You’ve gone from a day of good feelings with no traffic, no long lines, pleaseant check in employees and your perfect seat on the plan…To the pilot reading off to you every one of your worst fears- a rough bumpy ride, bad weather, and problems arriving at the other end. And you’re not the only one feeling this way there is a whole plane in synch with you. Very noticable with all the nervous glances exchanged after the announcement.
What happend…the pilot failed to connect with the crowd using better communication which could have been done in 90 seconds flat. Basically, he didn’t talk in a positive frame and say what he wanted to say, which was, ” Sit back relax, it’s going to be a smooth flight and we’ll be arriving in the “Big Apple” on time. Simple 90 seconds or less. By failing to talk in the positive the pilot planted a whole host of negative suggestions into the minds of the passengers.
Tip- We all go inside of our heads for the sensory information the pictures of things. Where is the bread in your kitchen? You just went to get the picture of where it is. What is your favorite Rolling Stones Song or favorite song of all time…Again you went to your head and got the tune so you could play it back in your mind. The language of the brain is made up of pictures, sounds and feelings. Your brain can only work with positive information and it’s the spoken language that comes after the input from your senses.
Pay attention to your language…for instance a simple example. You purchase something new at the office store…You thank the clerk and she says “No Problem” problem what problem? Instead it’s best to use a positive such as “My pleasure” now that’s more like it.
Enjoy your journey to better communication. If you’re looking to connect in life and business with stronger skills you can get some valuable insights in one of my favorite books “How to Connect in Business in 90 Seconds or Less” by Nicholas Boothman.
Cheers to you Communicating Great- Sharon Ann
13 Tidbits of Wisdom from Tony Robbins
Posted by: | Comments
Ever say I don’t need Motivation…that’s good because Tony Robbins will tell you he’s not the motivation guy that people say he is. He is the “Why Guy”. He has a focus in the world of neuro linguistic programming. He has created books and programs you may have heard of or own- Unleash the Power Within, Unlimited Power, Personal Power 2, Date with Destiny and so much more.
Today I’m sharing 13 tidbits of wisdom direct from the great Anthony Robbins and it’s your decision to become your very own “Why Guy or Why Gal”.
13 Tidbits-
1- The way to win is with immersion
2- Focus on what is driving you today (not 10 years ago)
3- The science of achievement is when you make the invisible visible in your life there is a formula and once you’ve got it nailed you can do it over and over again
4- The art of fulfillment is met when you expereince appreciation and contribution…this is not as simple as the science of achievement
5- When people come up with all the common excuses for lack of results (time, money, knowledge, technology challenges etc.) it’s not about the lack of resources it’s all about their lack of resourcefulness
6- Decisions shape your destiny…What are you focusing on right now?
7- With the right emotion you can breakthrough
8- There are 6,000 emotions and most people use less than 12 and over half of the ones used are making people feel like crap day in and day out
9- Become aware of your “State”
10- Get a handle on your “Filters” your “Model of the World”
12- Know what drives you there are 6 Human needs they are Certainty, Uncertainty, Significance, Connection & Love. Every human finds a way to meet these first four even if it is thru destructive means. The final two are needs of the spirit that you must have in order to live a life with fulfillment. They are contribution and growth…being able to contribute beyond yourself you have to experience it not just talk about. This is not corny or stupid it’s where your growth takes you into what I like to call the area of being a ‘Go Getter and Go Giver” something that is required from more people on this planet.
13- It’s about Emotional Fitness and Physcological Strength
Tony Robbins is amazing and I love his work and passion. He is obsessed with what he calls being able to get “Right Now Results”. Each person on the planet has the ability to get the results they desire right now if they decide to focus on it. Make a note that knowing and not doing means ZERO result. Making decisions and taking action is the path to results. Enjoy his work and decide to Unleash The Power Within yourself now.
Get out there today and ask yourself…If today where my last day…What would I do “focus” on right this second.

13 Secrets of Millionaire Minds
Posted by: | CommentsIn order to dive into the mind of a millionaire…it helps to know a few. I have made it a point over the last several years to surround myself with millionaires and study how they think and act. A very powerful book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind would be a good start for anyone seeking to get inside of the truth to the secrets.
T Harv Eker in this book points out that it’s not education, intelligence, skills, timing, work habit, contacts, luck, choice of jobs, businesses or even investments that make some people seem to get rich easily while others are destined for a life of financial struggle.
The shocking truth is that it’s your “money and success blueprint” that sits in your subconscious mind that determines our financial lives. Let’s take a peek at 13 Secrets of Millionaire Minds.
- Your income can grow only to the extent that you do.
- Money is a result, wealth is a result, health is a result, illness is a result…we live in a world of cause and effect.
- A Key Formula T-F-A=R this is Thoughts lead to feelings, feelings to actions and actions to results.
- When your subconscious mind must decide between deep rooted emotions and logic, emotions will almost always win out.
- If your sole purpose for acquiring money or success comes from a non-supportive root like fear, anger or the need to “prove” yourself, then the money you earn will never result in happiness.
- There is a way to reset your financial blueprint and it can be reset “permanently.
- Consciousness is viewing your thoughts and actions so that you can live from true choice in the present moment rather than being run by programming from your past.
- You can choose to think in ways that will support you in happiness and success instead of those that don’t.
- Millionaires believe “I create my life” and the poor believe that “Life happens to them”. Decide to release yourself from victimhood today.
- Complaining makes you a living, breathing “crap magnet”
- If your goal is to be comfortable, chances are slim you’ll get rich. But if your goal is to be rich, chances are elevated that you’ll become mighty comfortable.
- Rich people are committed to being rich. While the poor just want to be rich.
- The number one reason most people don’t get what they want is that they don’t know what they want.
This list could go well past 13 Secrets of Millionaire Minds…but I’m sure you’re rocking and rolling with it by now. If you haven’t read Secrets of The Millionaire Mind by T Harv Eker I’d recommend it in a heart beat. It’s all about you being able to master your inner game of wealth.
One of my good friends and mentors in business says that you will become a Millionaire in your Mind 12 months before it manifests in your life. Have an amazing day and I’ll look forward to connecting with you real soon.

The 4 Hour Work Week Not-to-Do List
Posted by: | CommentsThe Book 4 Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss is loaded with value. I’m going to take a moment today and share his “Not to Do List” something that will boost your productivity. Read on to learn how this list of 9 habits is sure to increase your performance. For it is in what you decide not to do that determines what you can do. Enjoy!
There are 9 habits that Timothy shares that cause stress for entrepreneurs and workers and with a plan to eliminate these 9 a few at a time you’ll be thankful you did.
1- Stop taking calls from numbers that are not recognized…it’s ok for you to surprise others with a call but don’t be surprised yourself. Let unknown numbers go to voice mail taking away unwanted interruption and poor negotiating positions.
2- Stay out of your e-mail first thing in the morning and later at night. The first part of the day gets scrambled if you check it and the latter part of the day you could suffer insomnia by reading your mail. E-mail can wait til mid morning once you’ve completed at least one of your top priority tasks for the day.
3- Don’t make meetings or calls that have no specific agenda or time limit. Clearly define the objectives and agenda and don’t let meetings take any longer than 30 minutes.
4- Cut off those that ramble…best way is to not start with How’s it going? Start with What’s up or I’m in the middle of something but what’s going on? A large part of getting things done is getting to the point.
5- Stop checking e-mail all day long…check at set times only. Set-up an auto-responder and check 2-3 times a day at specific times as your daily routine.
6- Don’t spend all of your time communicating with low-profit, high maintenance customers. The sure path to failure is to try and please everyone. Take a snapshot of your customer base and apply the 80/20 rule . You’ll find that 20% of your customers are creating 80% of your profits. Then make a plan that will put the 80% which most times will be the most demanding on auto-pilot. If they are not happy with your new procedures and policies you can point them to other providers.
7- Avoid working more to fix overwhelm…instead prioritize. If you’re not prioritizing everything will seem urgent. If you define the single most important thing of each day almost nothing seems urgent. Oftentimes, it will be just a matter of letting little things go and happen (such as returning a phone call late, pay a small late fee or let an unreasonable customer go) to get the bigger more important and impactful things done.
8- Stop hanging on to your cell or crackberry 24/7. Take at least 1 day off of the digital highway per week. Turn the technology off. Better yet, leave them at home when you’re out or lock them in the car when you’re at home. Get creative and unplug yourself. You’re not the president of the U.S. and no one should expect you to be available 24/7.
9- Do not expect that your work will fill the void that non-work relationship activities should. Work is not your life. Your co-workers shouldn’t be your only friends. Schedule your personal time and defend it as if it were an important business meeting. Stop saying to yourself that you’ll get it done over the weekend. Working all weekend is no way to spend the little time you have on this planet.
It’s cool to get things done, but it’s only feasible once we remove the constant noise and distraction. If you have trouble deciding what to do the just focus on your not to do list. You’ll be better off for it. If you haven’t picked up a copy of The 4 Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss then put it on your priority list now and get it done. Enjoy the journey.
Enjoy your new found freedom with a not to do list- Sharon Ann Irwin
Preview of The Book Being In Balance by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
Posted by: | Comments
Today’s post is all about Dr. Wayne W. Dyer’s book “Being In Balance.” In this book, he covers the nine principles for creating habits to match your desires. Let’s take a peek at what the nine principles are, and if you’re resonating with the sneak peek you can go out and get the book as a gift for yourself.
Principle # 1 is how to balance your dreams wtih your habits. “The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird sleeps in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul, a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities….” – James Allen
Principle # 2 Dr. Dyer shares that there is more to life than making it go faster. He writes about ways to balance your desires in order to enjoy life with your need to achieve. This one hits home with me as a former workaholic. “One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one’s work is terribly important…” – Bertrand Russell
Principle # 3 Focuses on balancing how you see yourself with what you project to the world. “I care not what others think of what I do, but I care very much about what I think of what I do. That is character!” – Theodore Roosevelt
Principle #4 Dr. Dyer reveals why your addictions tell you that you’ll never get enough of what you don’t want. The teaching of how to balance your desire for what you want with your addictive behavior.
Principle # 5 Dr. Dyer journies into the emotions and feeling here with “You’re not what you eat; you’re what you believe about what you eat.” “Do not neglect this body. This is the house of God; take care of it, only in this body can God be realized.” – Nisargadatta Maharaj Imagine yourself balancing your desire to have your body feel great with what you feed it and how you exercise it.
Principle # 6 There is no way to discover light by analyzing the darkeness. Dr. Dyer shares how to balance your desire for prosperity with your habits of scarcity. “Every man is free to rise as far as he’s able or willing, but it’s only the degree to which he thinks that determines the degree to which he’ll rise.” – Ayn Rand
Principle # 7 When you fight any adversity, you’re only increasing the power it holds over you. In this principle, Dr. Dyer takes a look at how to balance your desire to live in a peaceful world with messages of evil continually bombarding you. “To see and listen to the wicked is already the beginning of wickedness.” -Confucius
Principle # 8 The title of this chapter is “Love is what’s left over when falling in love fades away”. Dr. Dyer covers how to balance your desire for love with feelings of not having enough love. “Those that go searching for love only make manifest their own lovelessness, and the loveless never find love, only the loving find love, and they never have to seek for it.” – D.H. Lawrence
Principle # 9 Our Earth is crammed with heaven…so the saying “Heaven on earth” comes to my mind. Dr. Dyer shares how to balance your spiritual life with your material life. “Life in the world and life in the spirit are not incompatible.” – The Upanishads
In summary, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in his book “Being In Balance” takes you on a wonderful journey where you see and feel your unique creative process. You’re able to get in tune with what is at your core and start to take actions to adjust any out-of-balance thoughts that may come up along the way. It’s about re-alignment of your thoughts so you can restore balance and manifest your highest desires. If you like what you’ve read today, you deserve to have a copy on your bookshelf. Now that I’ve taken it off my shelf, I’ll re-read it over the course of this week.
Cheers to your success in creating habits that match your desires!
